Why doesn't your car fragrance work?

Why doesn't your car fragrance work? 7 mistakes you make unknowingly

Choosing the right fragrance for the car is a key part of caring for driving comfort for many drivers. A car air freshener can improve the mood, neutralize unpleasant aromas and give the interior a unique character.

Unfortunately, the choice of fragrance alone is not enough. Even the best, brand-name product can quickly cease to serve its function if you make those trivial mistakes that many drivers underestimate:

1. not taking care of interior cleanliness

The first and most important step: thoroughly cleaning the interior. Dirt, dust and lingering food residue in upholstery or rugs effectively compete with and even overwhelm the smell. Wash and vacuum your car regularly, and use car care products with attractive fragrances, such as the DR. MARCUS Car Detailing.

2. you choose a fragrance, suggesting only a low price

Fragrance is unequal to fragrance. And we're not just talking about olfactor qualities here. It is worth betting on proven car air fresheners that contain high-quality essential oils and are tested for durability. Regardless of the form - fragrance pendant, spray or air intake cartridge - the quality of the product is crucial.

3. you hang the air freshener in the sunlight

High temperatures inside the car accelerate the escape of fragrance. In summer, the best solution may be to place the fragrance in a less sunny location, such as in the glove box, under the seat or on the air vents - as long as the product allows it.

4. you don't do anything about the humidity in the car

High humidity conditions can affect fragrance projection, which is how fragrance notes are released. Fresh, citrusy notes may fade faster, while others, such as earthy, resinous notes, become more intense. Mostly, however, moisture in the car results in the smell of the air freshener becoming less noticeable.

What's more, it's worth remembering that excessive moisture harms not only the air freshener, but also your health: it promotes the growth of mold, fungi and bacteria (e.g. in the air conditioning).

So remember to regularly ventilate and dry the interior of your car. It's also a good idea to replace the cabin filter, and in the autumn and winter, replace the floor mats with rubber ones that don't store water.

5. you use only one form of air freshener.

Surprising? Fragrance layering, known from the beauty industry, also works well in the car. Combine different forms, such as a polymer air freshener for the air vents, which freshens the air for 45 days + a spray to freshen up quickly and "booster" the scent. Using several sources of fragrance enhances the effect and allows you to enjoy your favorite aroma longer.

6. you do not rotate fragrances

Even the most beautiful fragrance for the car smells weaker with time. The reason? This one works our sense of smell - we get used to the scents, which doesn't mean they smell weaker.

Instead of using the same aroma product over and over again, change them up!

Summary

Remember that the longevity of car fragrance is not only a matter of the product, but also of how you use it. Opt for a good-quality car air freshener that you won't find overpowering: after all, intense aromas can make you uncomfortable while traveling.
